One Night Trip to Palm Desert

We decided to take a little vacation during Memorial Day weekend. Jeff took off work on Friday and we went to a Marriott near Palm Springs. They let us check into our room at 11:00 am, which made it feel like we got two full days there! We chose this place because of their awesome pools. We really just wanted to swim!

It was Rachel's first time swimming at 7 months old. She loved it! The water was nice and warm.

Who needs actual pool toys? This is within 5 minutes of getting in the water and the hat came off soon and never went back on.

The best part was the water slide. Jeff and Ellen went on it over and over and over. Ellen just couldn't get enough! (I took her on it once and we both went under the water at the end--whoops! Good thing Ellen recovers quickly!)

There was also a nice sized kiddie pool where we spent a lot of time. Jeff and I couldn't believe the difference in Ellen from last year. She's always loved the water, but she was so much more confident! Last year, we had to watch her carefully to make sure she didn't fall over and go under the water as she walked around, but this year she was queen of the pool--going all around and doing anything she wanted. I think the fact that she's taller, stronger, and has better balance all help too.

We went swimming as soon as we got there, then came back to our room so the girls could nap, then swam some more, went out to dinner, put the kids to bed, woke up, went swimming, ate lunch, swam some more, and then loaded up the car for home. We got home around dinner time and we were exhausted! One night was plenty for us at this point in our lives!

This is the only picture of me from the trip. Rachel needed to eat some food on the drive home, so I wedged myself between the car seats for a few minutes to feed her.

  1. What a fun hotel! That's awesome that you could just stay at the hotel and play.
